Crazy cross promotional idea I had in the shower
So basically I had this crazy idea in the shower. For many people, the shower or a good, long bath is the best place to stimulate ideas. I haven’t tried it out yet but if I don’t say so myself, I think it’s a very potent marketing strategy in the right hands.
Cross Campaign Promotion (name pending, this’ll do for now)
OK, say I want to promote a couple different products. They each need something else to make them get something. I’ll work with the internet marketing industry because it’s easiest.
Say I have an SEO product I want to promote. The ultimate purpose of SEO is to get good rankings for a website and the ultimate purpose of a website is (most likely) to get conversions and make money. Say you have a turnkey website builder that sets up affiliate websites for you, but won’t do the SEO dirty work for you.
See where I’m going with this?
Basically, something you can do is use a video review of the SEO product on a turnkey site that you’ve set up. The key to make this work is to have it running in the background (the website), so you’re indirectly promoting it, ie. at the end you say, “and now thanks to [SEO product] my turnkey website [whatever.com] will have hundreds of targetted visitors visiting it per day”
meanwhile, on the review site for the turnkey thing…
“… and now, thanks to [turnkey website builder] I don’t have to wait forever to set up an automated website to make me consistent weekly income”
This will run straight off some video reviews showing customers of you casually using some of the techniques from the [SEO product]. They’ll basically be wondering “what the hell is he doing and where can I learn more?”
There are a few keys to making this technique really kick ass…
- the promotion of the other thing has to be under the radar and done casually in the background.
- it helps if the audience that you’re appealing to wants both things. You can essentially get one customer buying both products.
This technique is a bit more advanced I reckon, so much so that I’m getting confused by it myself. =S
So I might work on it and get back to you. But if anyone reads this post and gets the gist of what I’m doing, then good for you! Hope you use it to your advantage. It seems almost devilishly Frank Kern-ish, if I don’t say so myself. =p
Cheerio.
